. How to use the PERK Worksheets .

When the PERK document was being compiled into a working interactive document, the intentions were to make it very easy to
purchase items that may not be available in local stores around your area, provide incentive for folks who tend to procrastinate
to assemble a PERK bag by having direct access to internet sources for these items, and to find sources for items that were
comparatively inexpensive.  Sources that were selected for you to link to from the PERK worksheets were the least expensive
found from multiple searches, or were a bit more in cost but of higher quality, and were sources giving the Primal-Scream shop
at Web-Site-Shops.com written permission to use their images and links to their respective order pages.  You may find items
listed in the PERK checklist or worksheets less expensive at your local; if so, by all means buy them there.

The main criterion for putting together a PERK bag was portability.  Being able to carry the bag (by hand if you are reasonably
strong, or on your back with the double-strapped duffel bag if your arms are not very strong).  This criterion was especially slated
towards people in larger cities who are apartment dwellers and folks that do not normally use cars but public transportation to
get around in your daily lives.  Those with vehicles can keep their PERK bag in the trunk, along with additional food and water.
If a very serious emergency occurs and you are told to evacuate your homes, you may not be able to drive to a safer destination
due to a blocked escape route or traffic congestion halting your exodus, your only way out to a place of safety may be to walk
there.  A portable bag containing all that you need to not only survive but to be reasonably comfortable for a week will be
 appreciated.

The first page of the PERK document should be printed out and used as the actual checklist where you tick off the items in the
first (numbered) column as you get them.  Starting with page 2 (worksheets), there are either images, symbols, or hyperlinks
(blue and underlined text) that you use to navigate the document or to go directly to an internet source for an item.  As an
example, when  you roll your pointer over either image of the duffel bags in item 1, your pointer will turn into a finger indicating
that there is a link to a web site where you can purchase that item.

Please note that you must be logged on to the internet before the hyperlinks will take you to web sites.

You do not have to be logged on to navigate around the PERK document.

Internet links

When you roll your pointer over the first duffel bag on page 2 and click the image when the pointer becomes a pointing finger,
the hyperlink will take you to the web site below and directly (in most cases) to the vendor's order page (as shown below).
>

Clicking on the order button places this duffel bag into your shopping cart (as shown below).  You can remove the item from
your cart by changing the quantity to zero, then clicking "Update Qty", or change the quantity by typing a different number in the
"Qty" box.  You can keep shopping for other different items on the site, or click the "Checkout" button to go to a payment page
where you enter your shipping, billing, and credit card information then process the order.
>

After completing an order, exiting the web site should bring you back to the PERK document (see below).
>

Alternately, you can click the back arrow of your browser until you return to the PERK document (below).
>

Should you, accidentally, click on the "Close button" (the X as shown below) on a vendor's web site, you might 'lose' the PERK

document.  In actuality, the PERK document is sometimes hidden beneath another window when the "Exit" button is clicked.
Look in the tray at the bottom of your window for the file indicator (PERKZ5n as an example is seen below).

>

Clicking on the name of the hidden document will bring the document to the forefront of your screen again.
>

Hyperlinks

As an example of (internal - within the document) navigation, clicking the hyperlink "see list" (above) in item 3 (Other
 important papers
) on page 2 will take you to another part of the document that has information pertinent to the item 3.
>

The pertinent information linked to the "see list" hyperlink is a list of important documents on page 7 of the PERK list in this
instance.  Clicking on the underlined caret symbol " ^" along side of the section title will return you to item 3 of the list as
 seen below.
>

Symbols

Symbols are also used within the document to point out some information.  Wherever you see a symbol with a yellow highlight,
roll your pointer over the yellow fill to see some additional information.  Use a link so the symbols show the comment box.

In this example, holding the pointer over the ($), displays a comment describing the meaning of the $ symbol (below).

Using the hyperlinks in the PERK document adds some fun interactivity and, hopefully, makes it more convenient for you to
order supplies you can't find locally in order to pack your PERK bag with the necessities you need to "ride out" a serious
 emergency away from your home.
